You know I talk to my kids about pretty much everything. The one - TopicsExpress

You know I talk to my kids about pretty much everything. The one thing I can think of that we havent talked about is the recession- the economy. I dont really think about because I tend to look for opportunities rather than setbacks. My 13 yo daughter and her friends are feeling very hopeless. (Then add common core to school and its a recipe for disaster!) she feels completely hopeless in her future. What do you do?! She recognizes that college educated people are working in fast food. She knows student loans wont go away if she couldnt get a job after graduation. She LOVES to learn. But not in the limits of brick building. She is wise beyond her years. She knows she would pick up a language better in another country than learning it in school. She knows more about health, vitality and disease from living with me than shell ever learn in school. Shes 100% bored. Shes 100% ready to go experience the world... Like an entrepreneur- but if I told her that, she would feel overwhelmed with responsibility. Do you tell your child they think different because they know different- even if its overwhelming? And btw, shes known this before I left the safe secure j.o.b. at the hospital. She truly is here to change the world. But at 13- thats pretty overwhelming! Laureen, Stacey, Heather, Kathy, any ideas?
