You know Im a fan of the concept you teach people how to treat you. By what you allow, tolerate, embrace, accept--you teach others what your boundaries are and if they can tap dance their way over them or if they need to respect them. Apparently this is true for animals, too. Our chickens (yes, we have chickens) have begun to sound their alarm at 6:30 am each morning by making the MOST noise a chicken can make. I mean, the first time I was wondering when we got a rooster???? NOISY!!!! The way to silence them? Bring them treats in the form of fruit and veggies. That makes them happy and they shut up. Devil Dog has a TREAT CUPBOARD that he leads us to after hes gone outside to do his business--but only the first and last outings of the day. He goes to the cupboard, makes a bunch of noise by jumping up and down, barking, chuffing and shaking his head to make his collar jingle and then we open the cupboard, and he paws his treat that hed like to have. Our bearded dragon will literally climb the walls when he wants crickets. Hell have a full food bowl of fresh kale and fruit--but he wants crickets. So he paces back and forth and claws the walls (think nails on a chalkboard) until I cave. Apparently, Im very trainable. What do your pets have you doing?
