You know how in the movies the doctor tells the patient right away - TopicsExpress

You know how in the movies the doctor tells the patient right away that they have cancer and everything about it? Well, thats not how it really works. Three weeks after my biopsy, we still need more tests and surgery to find out everything needed to know. Heres what I do know: Its breast cancer in my left breast. Also in at least one lymph gland. Its not in my liver as one test suggested, (whew). It may or may not be in my lung. If it is cancer in my lung, it may or may not be metastasized from my breast. If it isnt, its curable. If it is connected with the breast cancer, it upgrades my cancer from stage 2 to stage 4. I may or may not have cancer in my thyroid, if it is, it is not likely to be part of my breast cancer and is totally treatable. More testing, maybe after surgery, will have to be done on this. I have 4 appointments tomorrow, one being the CT scan. My surgery; a double mastectomy, is scheduled for Tuesday Aug 19th at the VA Hospital in Temple, TX. They will remove the cancerous lymph at that time and any others they find. They may or may not be able to peak in my chest, Ill ask the surgeon tomorrow. I need the surgery right away because the tumor is growing FAST. I need a new Oncologist. I want very much to go to my daughters wedding on the 28th, I can cut my trip from 1 week to a couple of days, but its not certain if I will be able to go at all so soon after my surgery. Im doing my best to be at work and be somewhat effective. Thats about all I can think of. Any wonder why I need Canada to get through the day now?
