You know how you always hear about the importance of not blowing up in off season??? This is why its so important... Its harder to get back down and have the same physique, and impossible to improve. If you constantly yo-yo and start over (or in a worse place you originally started from) then you will NEVER get better. The picture on the left is when I won the 2012 NPC Tournament of Champions Overall Bikini Title. I had dieted for a year and maintained my conditioning with minimal cardio (hardly any actually). The right is from last years NPC USAs. Between the picture on the left and the picture on the right I gained 40 lbs. It was harder than the first time to lose the weight and my body would not respond like it had before. The picture on the left has only a couple pounds difference from the one on the right, but it looks very different. For my USA prep I ended up having to carb deplete, and do tons of plyos with 2 hours cardio in addition to lifting. Let me tell you...it REALLY SUCKED. When you know you did something to sabotage yourself, the defeat is even more devastating. Not this time. Dont do your best, do what needs to be done. Do what needs to be done and then do more.
