You know if Alinta have now completed their feasibility of a concentrated solar energy power station at Port Augusta, I was wondering if the prospect of desalinated sea water had been considered in the project. If we are creating superheated steam from sea water using an appropriate solar heated medium such as Salt, are we not generating a distilled water byproduct and a residual supply of salt (still a valuable mineral). Could the fresh water then be used to do away with the Morgan Whyalla pipeline and the burden on the Murray River. Could it not relieve the burden on the Broughton River for the irrigation of the Clare Valley and its reliance on the Murray River in times of drought. Just asking!
