You know, there are a lot of great points on the Adam and Eve - TopicsExpress

You know, there are a lot of great points on the Adam and Eve story. Why did God let the Tree of Knowledge grow in the Garden of Eden if he didnt want Adam and Eve to eat the fruit? Why did he make Adam and Eve in the first place if he knew that they and the human race after them would sin? These are all great points, but another one I thought of seems to get glossed over... How did Adam and Eve even make a decision, a choice between right and wrong, if they were unable to do so in the first place? There was someone else who made a similar point, Stephen McKnight, saying that God expected Adam and Eve to be able to obey him without even giving them the ability to recognize right and wrong. However, I would like to somewhat counter that statement: One can obey without knowing the difference in anything. They should have been unable to even think about disobeying him. Obeying him should have been automatic. ...Should have been... Contrary to that though, they somehow managed to be persuaded by the serpent. One could argue that since they didnt know better they would have listened to it either way. However, thats not the case in my opinion. They still made a decision contrary to what God wanted them to do, meaning they could make decisions already. Yes, the serpent did provoke it, but nonetheless it was still overall them, Eve more precisely. She chose to listen to the serpent instead of God, therefore choosing to disobey. If they really were unable to discern between choices, wouldnt they have still continued to blindly obey God despite the serpent? Wouldnt they have been unable to make that choice to eat the fruit anyways? This is quite a contradiction, isnt it? And, ultimately, this means that God made an oopsie! So, not only does he fail to make Adam and Eve truly clueless, but punishes them for it for HIS FAILURE???? So two birds with one stone have been killed: God is flawed AND unjust.
