You know what Im tired of? The lie that we should have to work. Because it is a lie. When this country was founded it was founded primarily by landed gentry. Anyone still know what that was? If you owned land and you owned enough land you didnt have to work it yourself. You could hire others to manage and work it for you. You were able to sit back and manage them. You could then take the extra time to think. To study. To create countries. To wonder at the creation of the universe. To understand science. To philosophize. Need I go on? Even the dimmest of those who were granted this status through hard work or just by the grit of having gotten here and taken claim to the land became free in ways we cannot imagine. Today, there is no need to have to work at all the jobs were continually creating. Someone somewhere is making a breakthrough that will take care of 100,000 of us or so. And there are enough of those that the entire country could sit back and work at jobs that we felt like doing. What would it be like to do a job that we were passionate about? Then hell, let the immigrants come and do the jobs we dont want to do. Wouldnt it be something if being a citizen meant more than just the right to vote and serve on a jury? What if it meant you were granted a basic salary and health care from the moment you were born until you died? No worries about survival. Only worries about making yourself better. Educating yourself and being the next one to contribute. Sure, some would choose to just sit back and do nothing. But the rest of us would choose to actually DO something. We could send men to other planets, build amazing infrastructure. Make this country a shining city on the hill.
