You know when youre getting a pedi and the pedicurists carry on a conversation (loudly) with each other in Vietnamese? My brain tells me its no biggee and not to take it personally but somehow, I STILL feel somewhat diminished. Just like when people whisper in front of me. Thats one of my pet peeves because its just plain rude. Whispering in front of others is saying youre not invited and fosters exclusivity. So are knowing glances. It makes others feel angry, annoyed and insulted. Its just plain rude.
