You may choose your sin, but you cannot choose the consequences. I - TopicsExpress

You may choose your sin, but you cannot choose the consequences. I think this statement is worth emphasizing. It’s too easy at times to evaluate our actions based on what we perceive the consequences to be, something of a risk/reward analysis. The problem with this approach as it relates to sin, is that sin does not have measured outcomes. The wages, or consequence, of sin is death. Death is unstructured and amorphous - meaning it is not an equation like a little sin = a little consequence. Death is death. A little death is not a manageable consequence. Like a little gangrene is an acceptable tradeoff for a little pride, a lie, or a bit of greed. It’s not a demerit system, it’s a death system.
