Yanick Djouzi Manzizila is now the proud owner of Swedish goal scoring record – one that stood for 60 years – after he scored 21 goals in a game. The 25-year-old forward who plays for Kongo United steamrolled their opponents Balrog Botkyrka Sodertaelje – thanks to three red cards. The final score in this seventh division league game? 30-0! “Id scored 12 goals against them previously so I knew there was a chance to score a lot of goals,” Manzizila said. And he had a lot of help from his twin brother Alex who is a play-maker in the side. But will the ‘21 goals’ record count? Swedish football historian Claes-Goran Bengtsson confirmed that it is a new record. But there is a catch though. The team was so demoralized after the loss that they have quit the league. As a result, all their results from the season will be cancelled thanks to Balrog’s withdrawal from the league. The 30-0 win will not be counted. But the individual goal scoring record will not be taken away from him. When he was told about the news that his goals wouldnt be counted for the season, he said: “Theres not much that can be done about it,” “Ill have to be happy with the fact that I broke (the record) and continue to focus on scoring a hundred goals instead.
