You might remember Mac, the beautiful senior collie mix who was left alone outside the shelter in a crate and how he had passed away on his way to the vet. Below is a pic of the box we got for Mac to bury his ashes. He was laid to rest in our Dog Park where he played for the last time and enjoyed some of the beautiful sun on his face. In the short time he was here, he touched many of our hearts. This is a poem sent to us by Donna (and her husband) who applied to adopt Mac, but unfortunately didn’t get the opportunity. They also made a donation of $100 to the shelter in his memory. Thank you. From Donna: The following is a tribute to Mac an elderly ill dog that was left anonymously outside the SPCA AR Saint John. They took Mac to the vet where a heart problem was diagnosed. Afterwards he was groomed to wash his matted coat and cut his long nails. He died a few days later. “Mac” He was taken from his home; cold hungry and alone. A friend nearby heard him bark He was rescued and fed and given a place to lay his soft furry head. We wanted to adopt Mac. It was love at first sight. This gentle old fellow nudged our hands for treats and laid his soft, furry head on our laps. Two days later he died in the arms of an angel. Mac did not die alone. Now he has a new home. We will never forget his soft, furry head. We love you Mac.
