You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. Mae - TopicsExpress

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. Mae West Yesterday Megan Sparks Bracken, Luke Sparks and I met with the funeral director to make the necessary arrangements for David Sparks when he is finally at peaceful rest. The last couple of weeks have been tough. He has battled the dreaded stomach virus, and in the last few days gone significantly downhill. He has spent most of the last two days in a deep sleep. When we have woken him up he is very confused, repeating things over and over again. But we have also been very blessed with moments like last night and his unlikely display of support for the UofL Cardinals. Luke has spent time singing to him at his request. Megan is simply his greatest comfort. Such precious moments to carry us through the times when we are struggling in the future without him here. My moments with him usually come in the early morning hours when he wakes up in a panic and is struggling to breathe. Lay with me and breathe with me, is what he said to me this morning. As I laid my hand on his chest and quietly whispered in his ear he calmed down enough to begin to rest once again. That is all I want for him, that is my continuous prayer as we walk with him on this final journey. He still believes he has more to do. At least that is what he continues to tell me. And I continue to tell him his has been a life well lived and well shared. He has prepared his family well. He has made a difference in the lives of many. And while there is an end to his life, his work will continue on through the many who have known his encouragement, his love, and his guidance. One life well lived and it has been enough. Thank you for all of your messages, texts, voicemails and notes of encouragement and love. You continue to carry us through. And for that we are eternally grateful.
