You will always be mine ________________________ I have been thinking about telling you But I just can’t bring myself to tell you For you have never showed me any signs That you could look in this direction of mine. Look at my brown eyes and dark black hair Think I could be your bride-to-be or take me on a dare Or ask me if I would wanna go to a movie Or for a Saturday brunch for a downtown boogie That you could ever think that I would be OK for you; I would be fine. You have never showed any obvious signs That you could look this way ever, in this direction of mine. So many nights I fell asleep thinking about you Wondering if by any remote chance you will take this view That I may be worth the trouble for all that was my fate Growing up In a family so twisted, and cruel from the starting gates. So many days I wondered how long your love is gonna last for your slut Who left a trail of broken hearts in this hood with a solid fame as a tart Who left one boy’s hand only to catch another’s in next week’s throngs Who is dingy in the head with quick-combat style and sharp enough tongue. That I could ever meet with you, I could look into your iris and see me shine For you have never showed any signs That you could look this way ever, in this direction of mine. I kept fantasizing if I will be the modern day Cindarella Brandy or Annie in an LA housing project with a fancy name Bella If I would be the first one finishing high school in my family from here Go on for college on a scholarship offered by Uncle Sam Dear I could never hope I will see you near me ever But I ended up where you were with honors in a grade above mine. I never expected this for you have never showed any signs That you could look this way ever, in this direction of mine. I kept hoping you will see me in the Cafeteria, or at the bus stop Or where the Bus Driver picks up the students or drops them off Or anywhere on campus someway some how I will run into you Even if we have separate schedules, and you drove a car and chances were few. But destiny had a way of its own, it may have been misery prone but this time it brightly shone On my luck; I ran into you one day at the stacks of the library in Building nine. I had no such hope for you had never showed any signs That you could look this way ever, in this direction of mine. I don’t know what happened to you, was it love at first sight After knowing about me so long After a long wait and many sleepless nights My luck just took a sharp turn; came up in a flight After that you never stopped calling my phone or texting my line I never expected this; for you had never showed any signs That you could look this way ever, in this direction of mine. After six months we went steady, at nine months moved in together We drove to school together, studied at the library and went back home in your car. At the beginning of my twentieth year I put off my studies We started making plans for the wedding and the after-parties. On the First day of November on my 21st Birthday We got married, partied like crazy and got drunk like skunks in an old mine. I never saw this coming, for you had never showed any signs That you could look this way ever, in this direction of mine. Twentythree years, I still love you, I am still crazy about you. You will always be mine. END _____
