YouTube are about to block many independent labels that do not sign their terms for their up-and-coming music subscription service. I will not be using YouTube to distribute my music in future as I wish for my work to be freely available and without subscription. I am not affiliated with any industry organization and therefore maintain full control over how and where my creative work is presented. The world is not a marketplace, it is what we make it in our hearts. Those things I consider most important: compassion, love and beauty, are far from the world of commerce. My position is hardening: those things that touch us deeply, that inspire us, that fill us with wonder should be shared without condition or contract. Artists, composers and writers all need to live, and part of this is to bring food to the table. Commercial success may allow us to eat well, but when money becomes the focus, those things of most importance fade from our view...
