Youll have to bear with me on this one! This is just for the sound, and youll have to turn your speakers all the way up to hear it. A couple of Mississippi Kites have been hanging around the park quite a bit this summer. They are strikingly beautiful silver-gray raptors with slender wings and a tail that can look triangular when they are flying. They have a call that is a short whistle followed by a longer descending whistle. In this video, the bird is too far away to be seen, but if you listen closely you can hear the whistle. My last observation of them at the park last summer was August 22, so enjoy them before they migrate!
