Young women from all over Fiji are meeting in Suva for the next - TopicsExpress

Young women from all over Fiji are meeting in Suva for the next three days to discuss how women can be involved in the countrys political transition into a sustainable democracy. The second Young Womens Forum aims to encourage young women leaders to actively participate in the countrys September elections. A Forum organiser from the Fiji Womens Rights movement, Tavai Bale, says sessions will focus on the importance of participation in the election to ensure womens needs are met. We are encouraging and trying to influence active political participation, to get women to actually vote. Also just to basically empower them to lobby political parties and decision-makers for better representation and inclusion of young womens issues in the upcoming elections. Tavai Bale says Forum members will also draft a declaration, which will outline the expectations each participant has of their leaders. She says that document will be circulated widely as a lobbying tool and to hold leaders accountable to their promises. radionz.co.nz/international/pacific-news/238869/2nd-young-womens-forum-underway-in-fiji
