Your CORE: The Powerhouse of all your limbs. Core Stability has been an area of extensive research in recent years in sports and exercise medicine. The importance of core stability for stabilisation and force generation (STRONGER, FASTER) in all sporting activities and indeed daily life is now widely recognised. Proximal STABILITY for distal MOBILITY The ‘CORE’ of your body may be loosely considered as the lumbar, pelvic and hip regions. As such strong and responsive GLUTEAL muscles play a significant role in this. Research has identified a strong relationship between reduced core stability (particularly relating to the gluts) and lateral thigh pain, hip and groin issues, knee pain and ligament injuries and indeed foot pain. In this video, Patrick demonstrates a simple exercise to facilitate and strengthen your gluteal muscles.
