Youth Justice Education Project: We Want to Hear from You! The Ontario Justice Education Network (OJEN) and the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth, two not-for-profit organizations, are working on a film project to teach youth workers and justice sector professionals about the experiences of young people involved with the Child Welfare System, the Youth Criminal Justice System, or both systems. We want to connect directly with people (aged 18-25) who have lived these realities, and who want to share their stories on camera. We will be filming these stories on March 19th. The purpose of this project is to educate frontline workers about the realities confronted by young people in these difficult situations. We think that the message will be stronger, more accurate, and more effective if it comes directly from youth with these lived experiences. If your interactions with these institutions have left you with a story to tell or if you want to share your experiences, positive or negative, this is a great opportunity to have your perspective heard, and to enact change for the better within these systems. Interested participants will need to contact Alix Nenniger at [email protected] or 905-483-3599, (Tell them OACAS YouthCAN sent you) on or before March 14th for a pre-interview and to discuss scheduling. Selected candidates will then spend 2-3 hours being interviewed on camera on Wednesday, March 19th. Food and transit tokens will be provided.
