Youths Protest Suspension of PDP Chapter Chairman For Supporting Jedy Agba by crossriverwatch admin protest Hundreds of youths drawn from Calabar South Local Government Area in Cross River State who are members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday besieged the secretariat of the party to protest the suspension of the Chapter Chairman of the party, Mr Titus Essien Efiok. The youths who bore placards with inscription berating the party hierarchy for what they termed “unjust” suspension of the chapter chairman for allegedly attending a meeting convened by the Goddy Jedy Agba Campaign Organization, demanded for his immediate recall and lifting of the suspension order. The party, a reliable source told CrossRiverWatch, was irked by the action of the Chapter Chairman who attended a meeting convened by the Goddy Jedy Agba Campaign Organization and had to be suspended. “The man was not queried or invited by the Disciplinary Committee to defend himself before they clamped a one month suspension on him and now that the one month has expired, they have extended it to three months”. One of the placard carrying youth who gave his name as Marcus said. According to the youths, the party was acting the script of Mr. Gershom Bassey, the chairman of the Southern Senatorial District Caucus who is angry that the Chapter Chairman of his chapter is in the Goddy Agba camp when he is nursing ambition to succeed Senator Imoke. “Gershom has never told us that he is running for governor nor has he even spent a kobo to grow the party in Calabar South. If not for the effort of the chapter chairman he is now witch hunting, Gershom would have been wallowing in shame now because he lost the election in his polling booth and the ward during the local government elections last year”. Mr. Efiok was invited to appear before the Disciplinary Committee of the party, headed by Josephine Effiong, former Chairman of Akpabuyo for the first time since his suspension yesterday Monday where he was charged with anti party activities. Mr. Obi Bisong, the PDP Publicity Secretary who addressed the protesting youths called on them to be peaceful as the chairman was still under suspension and after the investigation by the Disciplinary Committee if he is not found culpable, the suspension will be lifted.
