Youths between the ages of 8 and 17 who put pen to paper could earn an airplane ride June 25 as part of activities leading up to the Vectren Dayton Air Show June 28-29. The Young Eagles contest will award one child with a ride in a plane with Young Eagles chairman Sean Tucker. The child will be chosen for this flight based upon an original essay as part of an essay contest sponsored by the Vectren Dayton Air Show. Children must write an essay no less than 100 words and no more than 300 words on one of two themes: What I imagine my first airplane ride will be like; or what this flight will mean to me? Additional requirements include: Children must be between the ages of 8 and 17 by June 25 Children have never flown in anything smaller than a commercial plane Be willing to be interviewed by various media formats for promotion of the air show Have a parent or guardian accompany you to the Vectren Dayton Air Show on June 25, arriving no later than 9:30 a.m. Parent/guardian must sign the standard Young Eagles waiver on the day of the flight For standard mail, the entry deadline is June 6 by 5 p.m. Mailing address is: Vectren Dayton Air Show My First Airplane Ride Essays 3800 Wright Drive Vandalia, Ohio 45377 Deadline for entries sent electronically is June 6 by 5 p.m. Submit entries to daytonairshow More details for this contest can be found at daytonairshow.
