Youve seen the rocks in a hundred different photos but nothing prepares you for the magnitude of seeing this in person. 5,000 years ago a few hundred Neolithic humans decided to build something for some purpose. The extraordinary effort to shape, transport and place these 5-35 ton stones over a period of about 800 years and before there were any metal tools is inspiring. No one knows the exact how and why this was done but archeologists are putting together the evidence, creating a plausible story and theyre only about 50% complete with their excavations. Heres some photos from different angles. There is so much speculation and evidence I couldnt possibly do it justice here. Let your imagination sour.
