You’d think that if you knew your actions were responsible for the health and welfare of millions of people that you would take the responsibility seriously… wouldn’t you? The downfall of the United States lies solely in the hands of those who have been elected to guide her fate with their daily decisions. I love this final speech from the 1993 movie ‘Dave’ where the President-imposter spoke about what holding office should mean…a thought that everyone in a leadership position should take to heart. Their actions, votes and opinions are being recorded for posterity. Many today are dishonoring their own names by conspiring against the people; too bad so many of them have so little conscience and are merely pawns for the power brokers. “If youve ever seen the look on somebodys face the day they finally get a job, Ive had some experience with this; they look like they could fly. And it’s not about the paycheck, its about respect, its about looking in the mirror and knowing that youve done something valuable with your day. And if one person could start to feel this way, and then another person, and then another person, soon all these other problems may not seem so impossible. You dont really know how much you can do until you, stand up and decide to try…“I forgot that I was hired to do a job for you and that it was just a temp job at that. I forgot that I had two hundred and fifty million people who were paying me to make their lives a little better and I didnt live up to my part of the bargain. See, there are certain things you should expect from a President. (or a Representative) I ought to care more about you than I do about me... I ought to care more about whats right than I do about whats popular. I ought to be willing to give this whole thing up for something I believe in.”
