Yowah is a small opal mining town 165 kilometres west of Cunnamulla. It is the home of the unique Yowah Nut Opal and Ironstone Matrix Opal, a type of opal only found in this part of Queensland. Opal was first discovered at Yowah towards the end of the nineteenth century. Sooooo, I am off to this area to WHAT.... perhaps go full circle. Ive been using boulder opal for nearly 25 years and I guess it is time to see where and who are mining this most exciting gem. Bill Kasso has a home there so I am accompanying him there. What a team we have become! I am going to find the most amazing opal, I can feel it! I spent my early 20s in the bush of Alaska, now its time for the bush of Australia.... I must like A destinations!
