Yucca! I have lots of yucca! Clusters of long, pointed leaves on the ground stay green year-round with absolutely no maintenance. In spring a 3-5 ft stem grows upward and produces a cluster of beautiful, white, waxy blooms. Im told that the flowers are collected in Mexico and fried to eat, although Ive never tried it. They can also be eaten raw and in a salad. 2-3 weeks after flowering they produce a fruit which can also be eaten. Very hardy plants will multiply every year. The leaves are very fibrous and can be used to weave baskets, too.
