Yuma Garden Companys main objective is to provide Yuma with Organic, GMO FREE, Pesticide FREE produce, flowers and herbs. To inspire others to self sustain, to grow a garden, to eat gmo free, pesticide free, organic produce and to promote a healthy lifestyle. We want to support local business in Yuma and create a movement that unites local small business owners. We are currently Organically growing our own Produce, Flowers and Herbs on our small 2 acre family farm. We do not use any pesticide to keep pests off our plants. We use a diluted mix of Dr. Bronners Organic Soap. We purchase our seed from an Amish company called E&R Seed and an Organic Medicinal herb company called Horizon Seed. All seed and plants are GMO free. We use organic methods to fertilize our plants. We currently have 5 varieties of sunflowers growing on our urban farm along with Bells of Ireland, marigolds and edible nasturtiums (this list goes on) We create unique floral designs using our flowers, and produce and make ornamental and edible arrangements inspired by the desert southwest. We also believe in the power of herbs and their healing qualities. We are currently growing a large variety of herbs including basil, lavender, chamomile, lemon balm, coriander... The list goes on. We make herbal oil infusions, tinctures and balms. We also make hand carved wooden spoons and scoops and custom build chicken coops and treehouses. My husband is a skilled carpenter and craftsman. Our Company is owned by myself Alia Koger, Ernest Martin Johannsen III, and Carmen Johannsen. Ernest and Carmen are brother and sister. They are 5th generation farmers. Their family came from Germany in the late 1800s and started a farm and homestead in Gadsen, Arizona. The Johannsens currently own a farm in Somerton, Arizona and grow cotton, wheat, ornamental wheat and grasses. Carmen is a skilled florist and has owned a flower shop in the past. She is also extremely educated on plants and horticulture. Ernest has been farming for more than half of his life. They both jumped on the opportunity to start this organic garden when my husband and I purchased this property about 8 months ago. My husband and I own the home that sits on our small 2 acre farm. Our property is in Yuma county and is zoned for agricultural farm use and sits on a county island nestled between neighboring houses. We are a family farm and each one of us brings a unique skillset to our farm and business. We are Farmers, Urban Gardeners, Florists, Potters, Artists, Herbalists and Carpenters. We look forward to sharing our love of all things natural and hand made with the Yuma community. Thank you all for the positive feedback we greatly appreciate it!!
