ZAMBIAN singer Bruce Simbalangwa, a.k.a B1, is expected to prove his worth by staging two live shows in Chipata District this weekend at the invitation of Kakos Promotions Limited. B1 is expected to stage the first show on Saturday at East Point Discoteque while the following day he will hold a family show at Chipata Tennis Club. Kakos Promotions Limited director Lazarus Joseph Daka confirmed to Zamtel Entertainment in Chipata on Tuesday the two shows to be performed live as part of marking Africa Freedom Day. Daka said the first show at East Point Discoteque pegged at KR20 would start at 19:00 hours until dawn while the family show at the tennis club was expected to kick off at 13:00 hours and end at 18:00 hours, with each showgoer expected to pay KR10. “This is part of our commemoration of Africa Freedom Day, so we have decided to invite B1 of the Sikiriti fame to be with us in Chipata,” Daka said. He said Benson Lungu of Chipata will spice up the two shows. Meanwhile, Daka has urged fellow musical promoters in the country to take the promotion of music seriously. Daka is currently lecturing in design and technology at Chipata College of Education. He said the promotion of music was to help uplift the arts industry in the country. Daka, who has been promoting music since 2008, said he was happy with his job of promoting music in Eastern Province. He said it was important to promote various expressions of arts creativity in the country. The renowned musical promoter has been bringing both Zambian and Malawian musicians to the province for live performances. Some of the musicians who have performed under his auspices include Skeffa Chimoto, Alex Kamonga, Thomas Chibade and Danny Muyaya of Malawi. He has also managed to bring in local musicians such as Brian Chilala, Glorious Band, Liseli Sisters, John Chiti, Organised Family, Mwana Wa Mukomboni ‘Dalisoul’, and General Kanene, among others.
