ZAMs Hope Celebrates 14th Annual Fashion Show/ Fund Raising Event Colors, Fun, Music, Dance, Fashion show and Gymnastic display made the event memorable. September 22, 2014 CHICAGO, IL— Chicago (Bureau Report) ZAMs Hope Community Resource Centre celebrated its 14th Annual Fashion Show & Fund Raising Event, Sunday, September 21, 2014, with great flair and fervor. More than 300 people enjoyed the fun and frolic of the event. Toni Preckwinkle, President of Cook County Board was the Chief Guest. Jesse White, IL Secretary of State was the Guest of Honor. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky was the Guest Speaker. Other VIPs included Cook County Judges, James Kaplan and Pamela Loza, Illinois State Senator Silverstein, 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore, 50th Ward Alderman Debra Silverstein; Mr. and Mrs. Sharma and other leaders and guests of the South Asian community. Founder and Executive Director of ZAMs Hope, Zehra Quadri welcomed the guests and thanked everyone for helping and supporting the organization in its efforts to help the community for the past 14 years. She reiterated her commitment to serve the low income and oppressed families. Chief Guest, Toni Preckwinkle, while addressing the audience, praised Zehra Quadris efforts for the betterment and welfare of the community. Next, Jesse White, congratulated Zehra Quadri for holding such a successful event and assured his support in her mission. He also disclosed that his Tumbling Team had successfully performed more than 50,000 shows. Then, Jesse Whites Tumbling Team, enthralled the gathering with a fantastic display of gymnastic routines, leaping into the sky, defying gravity, then tumbling back to earth, on their feet, with grace and harmony. It was poetry in fluid motion. The audience got to their feet, gave the performers a resounding round of applause and were joined by passersby, who had stopped, spellbound by the amazing performance. Guest Speaker, Jan Shakowsky highlighted the importance of welfare and humanitarian services and hailed the 14 years outstanding services of ZAMs Hope under the leadership of Zehra Quadri. Other VIPs also commended the service rendered by Zehra Quadri and hoped she would continue her generosity and commitment to the community. Alderman Joe Moore modeled wearing a Bridal Sherwani, Toni Preckwinkle walked the ramp with a beautiful shawl, Judges James Kaplan and Pamela Loza, modeled with clothes designed by Zehra Quadri, to raise funds for ZAMs Hope. ZAM’s Hope presented awards to individuals from government, corporate, and community sectors that had made major impact in the communities we serve. Samuel “Sam I Am” Williams, was the emcee and he rendered the song, “I believe I can fly”. Other popular singers of Chicago also performed and entertained the audience with their songs. Lunch was also served to all the guests and participants. About ZAM’s Hope ZAMs Hope is a community-based resource center for low-income families based in the diverse West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago. Since 2000, the center has expanded to serve over 3500 individual men, women, and children from seven different ethnic backgrounds. ZAM’s Hope aims to help these families by providing them with vital resources and equipping them with skills necessary for long-term success. ZAM’s Hope offers prompt and critical assistance to families and individuals in socio-economic crisis, including housing support, grocery distribution, financial assistance and more. Besides these immediate needs, ZAM’s Hope seeks to help individuals reach personal goals and support larger community initiatives. The organization is dedicated to helping its clients achieve their full potential, through the provision of computer training, after-school programs, financial literacy programs, health educational seminars and more.
