The genetic material of sunflower, organic cauliflower and broccoli in bio chicory "WISO" showed the genetic material of Japanese radish. Fresh broccoli were 60 percent and at the chicory 40 per cent of the samples positive, so genetically altered. "WISO" found in the frozen vegetables. The organic vegetables came from different branches of organic markets Alnatura, because BB´s, basic BioCompany and tegut. The organic sector definition rejects genetic engineering. The use of genetically modified organisms or their derivatives is prohibited in organic farming and processing." In a sample of the Demeter frozen cauliflower of brand "natural cool cauliflower" the laboratory has found foreign DNA. Demeter responded immediately due to the "WISO" mining. Compared to "WISO", the Board of Directors, Alexander Gerber, said that the company rejects the cell fusion technique and an error happened Demeter. "We have immediately removed the goods from the market. It is no longer available. "And we have stepped up checks on all farms." The affected vegetables are so-called CMS-hybrids. CMS stands for "Tables of cytoplasmic male sterility". CMS causes the plants not pollinate themselves, instead grow revenues. In order to exploit this property in the breeding of hybrids, CMS is transferred to cauliflower, broccoli or chicory. This is done by means of cell fusion, a process of genetic engineering. The result is a cell that contains the genetic material of two different types. According to the EU release directive the cell fusion is one of the genetic engineering. The directive however formulated an exception for CMS-hybrids. Therefore, conventional farmers must but also organic farmers produce according to EU standard, build CMS-hybrids, and marketing. The German organic associations such as Demeter and Bioland however strictly reject CMS hybrid.
