ZEOs of Kunzar booked for embezzling funds Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Jan 15: Vigilance Organization Kashmir has booked successive Zonal Education Officers of Education Zone Kunzar for embezzling Government funds in lacs of rupees by raising fictitious bills. An FIR has been registered under Section 5(1)(c), (d) read with 5(2) PC Act 2006 and 120-B RPC against then ZEO Kunzar Noor Mohammad, his successors Abdul Hamid, Javed Ahmad and Masooda Shah. The case was registered after an enquiry conducted by the Vigilance Organization on the complaint filed by Chief Education Officer Baramulla into the allegations that financial embezzlement and misappropriation of Government funds by the officers/officials of Education Zone Kunzar have been detected by an audit team during audit of accounts for the period 04/2007 to 03/2012. The audit report revealed that Hilal Ahmad Mir, Senior Assistant in the office of ZEO Kunzer, during the period 02/2008 to 11/2010, hatched a criminal conspiracy with then ZEO Noor Mohammad and the plot was later joined by the succeeding ZEOs as well as teachers namely Nazir Ahmad Rather and Mohammad Shafi Sheikh. These accused were found to have dishonesty and fraudulently misappropriated Government funds in lacs of rupees by way of raising fictitious bills on account of purchases of different items and salaries of employees etc.
