ZIFA Northern Region Division One side Flame Lily received a boost in their aspirations for a place in the Castle Lager Premiership next season when financial institution BancABC last night came on board as one of their partners. Zimbabwe Prison Service-owned side yesterday received a sponsorship package worth US$60 000 from BancABC through their subsidiary ABC Easy Loans, trading as BancEASY. ABC Easy Loans is a registered micro-finance institution and is a subsidiary of BancABC, who have also made an investment towards Premiership giants Dynamos and Highlanders. Desmund Ali, the BancEAsy managing director said they were happy as a group to continue to invest in sport, particularly football. “As a group we sponsor Dynamos and Highlanders and BancEasy has a partnership with Black Mambas. “Today we are witnessing the unveiling of a sponsorship package with Flame Lily Football Club,” said Ali. Under the US$60 000 investment, the ZPS side are expected to use part of the money to pay for the players’ winning bonuses, match officials’ fees and camping allowances. “BancEasy will also provide playing kits for home and away matches as well as training equipment like bibs and cones. “We are also giving them tracksuits and soccer boots,” said Ali. Under the initial deal, the micro-finance institution will provide sponsorship until the end of the season. Flame Lily, under coach Raphael Kawondera are hoping to win the sole ticket to the Premiership from the Northern Region. “While this deal expires in December, we are going to review it and hopefully Flame Lily will be playing in the Premiership next year,” said Ali. Flame Lily chairman Nelson Chikwature was grateful for the gesture from BancABC and hopes it will spur their team to fight harder for the sole ticket to the elite league. Besides injecting cash towards Dynamos, Highlanders, Black Mambas and now Flame Lily, BancABC also sponsor the Sup8r Cup which will return to action starting tomorrow.
