Zaher Sahloul: "Am I the only one who is depressed of the news of the Sunni-Shia war these days? I see many Syrians and Muslism calling for it becasue of the daily massacres in Syria. I see many people rejoicing and calling for revenege form the other side. Are we serious? Do we know the consequences of giving religious certificates or fatwas to bainwashed ignorants to enter heaven by killing a many poeple as possible from the otherside? This is an apocalyptical war that will destroy the lives of millions. This is the first official public decleration of war between Sunnis and Shia in the modern times. The results will not be good for all parties and all nations involved. The Syrian revolution was started as political strugle against a tyrant regime and it should stay as such even though that the evil regime of Assad and his supporters have succeeded in framing it as religious war between Sunnis and Shia. The religious leaders from both groups in the world and in US, in particular, are still ignoring this huge crisis. Major Muslim organizations like ISNA, MPAC and MAS have been on the sidelines from the begining of the Syrian crisis and they acted like things are as usual. It is idiotic to think that the repercussions of the war will not reach our shores. It will only take a spark to ignite an already hidden hatred into violence between both communities in Deraborn or Chicago or LA. The last Catholic Protestant war in Europe lasted for several centuries and left tens of millions dead."
