Zamboanga is a peaceful place, were everyone lives a simple life. But one day on September 9, 2013, a day that shocked the people of Philippines, a day that will never be forgotten by the people of Zamboanga, this was the day the Zamboanga had been attacked by the group of a rebellion army called MNLF. It was 8:00 am in the morning when I woke up and at that time I was in my uncle’s house in Luyahan-Tumaga Kalayaan Subdivision, Zamboanga city, I was already preparing my things before going to school and suddenly my uncle told me that there was no class, because the city of Zamboanga was under attack by the group MNLF, I ask my uncle “where is the current location of the terrorist?” and he said “they were in the town of Zamboanga, they are planning to take over control into the entire Zamboanga”. I can’t explain my feelings at that time, am I suppose to be happy because of the suspension of classes or be frighten because knowing that they were all armed and already got hostages with them and making their hostages as a human shield against the military, for their protection and also the possibilities that they might go to our place. It was a very frightful and boring day, and when suddenly a tragic moment happens. At the day that the terrorist had a complete assault in to our town, and planning to raise their flag into our city hall I heard the cries of the people of Zambaonga. It was so sad, that Zamboanga is already experiencing poverty and yet another crisis was added into this city. I thought that the city of Zamboanga will be taken away from us. I lose my hope, my lose faith, and I lose courage, that the people of Zamboanga will wont stand and fight for their freedom, for their child and for their life anymore. Sadness, tears, pain and revenges were built into the hearts of Zamboangeneos and in some families that lose their love ones were taken and died, because of the war. But when I hear the prayers, and saw the lighting of candles of the people of Zamboanga, I felt that there is a still a chance, that we will rise and we will once more smile.
