Ziggy releases iTunes bestseller Ziggy Marleys fifth solo studio album, Fly Rasta has flown to the top of the iTunes Best Reggae Album chart ahead of the albums official release today. In addition to holding the No. 1 spot for best Reggae Album on the iTunes charts, the single, I Dont Wanna Live on Mars is also the No. 2 reggae track. The number one rating comes a few days after the six-time Grammy Award winner gave fans a peak at the album, streaming it via the iTunes Radio First Look feature. The album is already available for pre-order on iTunes. Fans can visit the iTunes web store and search Fly Rasta, or go to tw.itunes/FlyRasta to secure their copy of the album ahead of its release. Ziggy Marley sensitised fans to the project that became the album, Fly Rasta, giving them an understanding of the thinking behind his latest creation when he engaged them on Twitter chat with iTunes on April 9 and 10. For Ziggy Marley, his latest vehicle of expression, Fly Rasta, represents a galactic sonic journey. The trip began in early 2013 with a handwritten note. The concept was simple: make a record that was true to himself, and expanded the territories of the traditional reggae sound by exploring new musical spaces. FUSION OF GENRES He had brought strands of other genres into his previous albums, but now he was looking further into the musical universe, like the deep-space eye of the Hubble telescope. Fly Rasta fulfils Ziggys mission by marrying his own distinctive reggae sound with elements of psychedelica, rock, funk, soul and pop, exploring further musical zones with the addition of sitar, tabla and taiko drums. Im looking to push the envelope, to challenge myself, Ziggy explained. I have always wanted to travel far beyond the realms of expectations.
