Zimbabwe is an all weather friend: Ambassador Lin Chinas Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ambassador Lin Lin has applauded the cordial relationship between his country and Zimbabwe, noting that the warm relationship stretches back to the time of Zimbabwes liberation struggle and is poised to continue for the foreseeable future. Addressing a well attended public lecture at Midlands State University, Ambassador Lin noted that Zimbabwe was Chinas largest trading partner in Africa, a relationship that was proving mutually beneficial. The Ambassador chronicled how the Chinese economy had grown to being the largest in the world, noting that the process had taken more than 50 years and was ongoing. Ambassador Lin also outlined how the higher education sector in China was structured, noting that the country had 1 212 Universities that were aimed at promoting technology transfer and fostering economic growth in the Asian giant. Ambassador Lin noted that it was Chinas intention to ensure that Zimbabwe achieved development and growth premised on the countrys vast mineral resources. Prior to delivering the public lecture, Ambassador Lin paid a courtesy call on the Midlands State University Vice Chancellor, Professor Ngwabi Bhebe. The public lecture was attended by members of Midlands State University staff among them the Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Academic Affairs, Professor Muzvidziwa, the University Librarian, Ms. Chibanda, Deans of Faculties and lecturers. Colleagues from Great Zimbabwe University were also in attendance.
