Zola update: Zola bear remains fever free, chest x-Ray looked - TopicsExpress

Zola update: Zola bear remains fever free, chest x-Ray looked great, ultrasound of her abdomen looked great, labs look great, cultures were negative:)As of now, she is still receiving the two antibiotics via IV until she has had them for the full 48 hour period. She is no longer having mild side effects to the Voncomycin and slept all night long. Her room is nicely decorated with stickers:) she is very cooperative and often assists the nurses. It gives me more peace of mind when she is not anxious, it makes Mama less anxious as well. I have lost count on how many times we have watched Curious George, thrilled she has the opportunity. She has a compromised immune system so she is staying in her room. Apparently, the flu has started and the respiratory virus that was in full swing in Missouri has made its way to Arkansas. The EBV virus that she has been being treated for with Valcyte, for months now, is actually less than it has been for months:) it was a likely possibility that this virus was the source of the fever, ( it is still a possibility but unlikely) so its nice to know that the results are better than we expected. Zola enjoyed a nice foot soak in the sink with lots of bubbles followed by a nice sponge bath. With the port accessed, she cant have baths , but I have always let her at least bathe in the sink while I keep the site covered. She really enjoys it and I feel like it is fun and relaxing, plus I can clean her better than with a wipe. It looks like she may have a virus, like all kids get, but since she had a fever greater than 101( plus medical history) she had to be admitted into the hospital, run full viral panels, labs, cultures and such just in case, better safe than sorry approach. The plan is to complete the antibiotics, go home tomorrow morning if she remains fever free, it was probably just a little virus , thank The Lord! She will have repeat labs in a couple of weeks, just in case. She is in a great mood, eating well, and taking advantage of our leniency given the situation to all you can eat Popsicles and ice cream. We have great nurses and as always love her liver specialist. It makes such a difference!!! No complaints from this Mama.
