Drivers David Ragan and David Gilliland reupped with the organization in 2014, continuing their association with the No. 34 and No. 38 Fords, respectively. Ragan, this Springs Talladega winner will begin his third season with the program while Gilliland, the seasoned veteran of the organization will return for his fifth. This has been a milestone year for us, and were extremely happy that two of the guys who helped get us here will be back next year, said team owner Bob Jenkins. Were improving our race program, attracting more sponsors, and setting and achieving higher and higher goals each year. Having David and David, our one-two punch, back in those cars next year is central to continuing our growth and improvement. In addition to FRMs first win, that Dega triumph in April theyre enjoying their best average finish on the Cup level. Ragans number of 26.3, for top-tier Cup organizations would be considered disappointing; however, for an underdog like this one its slow, steady progress. Gilliland, with an average result of 27.0 has also had a strong year, tying his best Cup finish of second at Talladega while posting five top-20 finishes. This is definitely not the same team I came to five years ago, said Gilliland. Weve made big strides across the board, and Im proud to have been a part of that progress. Now that we have almost a full year working with this Generation-6 car under our belt, I think the potential for next year is even greater for us. The team employs a third driver, Josh Wise, who drives the No. 35 Ford in every race but has start-and-parked in 11 of his 30 starts, including six of the last seven. Funding issues have crept into play, making his 2014 status unclear although the team is expected to run all three cars the distance this weekend. News N Notes - Parker Kligerman will get his shot at the Sprint Cup level November 3rd at Texas. The 22-year-old full-time driver for Kyle Busch Motorsports, in the Nationwide Series will make his debut in NASCARs top division driving the No. 30 Toyota for Swan Racing. Parker is one of the truly gifted young drivers,” said co-owner Brandon Davis in a press release. “We are really looking forward to evaluating him.” The team is still seeking a full-time driver for 2014, after parting ways with David Stremme last month and has already auditioned Cole Whitt and Kevin Swindell. - Camping World Truck Series veteran Richie Wauters is back in that division, effective this week with Turn One Racing. Wauters, who owned a Truck last season for rookie Paulie Harraka dissolved that effort due to lack of sponsorship; now, hell assist Dakoda Armstrong behind the scenes for Stacy Comptons No. 60. Armstrong, in his second full season running the series has been struggling; hes without a top-5 finish, through 17 events and sits 12th in the season standings. I gave (Michael Waltrip) time to try and work it out and we tried to work it out together, said Truex. But its hard to put stuff together at this point of the year. So its time now for me to figure out what Im going to do, and figure it out quickly. Im running out of time. Asked about speculation that he is the heir-apparent to Kurt Busch at Furniture Row Racing next season, Truex insisted, there is nothing to talk about yet. Theyve done a great job this year and Im interested in their program. Theyre definitely on my radar, but well just have to see where it goes. Truex said he has not made any inquiries about returning to the NASCAR Nationwide Series garage, where is a two-time champion, but did not rule out doing so in the future. Ive always loved the Nationwide Series and the time I was able to run there even part-time while running Sprint Cup at DEI and MWR was a lot of fun. Its something that Ive missed in the past few seasons, and Id be interested in going back there on a part-time basis (in addition to a full-time Sprint Cup ride). Truex admitted that the last few weeks have been among the most difficult of his career. Its been tough here lately, but well go back after them this weekend, he said. All you can do is pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go back and try again. Weve had a rough go of it lately, but it could always be worse. Hopefully, out of all this bad stuff that has happened, something good will develop.(Godfather Motorsports)(10-16-2013) UPDATE: Martin Truex Jr. has agreed to drive the #78 Furniture Row Chevrolet in 2014. Sources say the parties came to terms on Wednesday night. A formal announcement is expected next Tuesday. In his eighth year as a full-time Sprint Cup driver, Truex has spent the past four seasons driving the #56 NAPA Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing. However, MWR s manipulation of the outcome of the Sept. 7 race at Richmond International Raceway and subsequent sanctions from NASCAR resulted in Truex s disqualification from the Chase for the Sprint Cup and NAPA s decision to part ways with the organization at the end of the season.(A HREF=msn.foxsports/nascar/story/martin-truex-jr-agrees-join-furniture-row-racing-team-2014-leaves-michael-waltrip-racing-101613>Fox Sports)(10-17-2013) • Sadler could sub for Vickers: Elliott Sadler tops the short list of substitutes for Brian Vickers in the #55 Aarons Toyota for the final four races of the season. Michael Waltrip Racing announced on Monday that Vickers would be sidelined for the remainder of the season because of a blood clot in his right leg. Vickers was named the driver of the #55 ride for 2014 in August. Sadler currently competes full time in the Nationwide Series for Joe Gibbs Racing and is fifth in the points standings. The 38-year-old native of Emporia, Va., ran in the Sprint Cup Series for 12 consecutive seasons and posted wins at Bristol Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Auto Club Speedway.(Fox Sports)(10-17-2013) • Special scheme for Ragan: #34-David Ragan and Front Row Motorsports return to Talladega Superspeedway this week looking to duplicate their wild win earned on a last-lap surge in May. With all eyes on the reigning Talladega champ, the driver will bring a brightly colored paint scheme promoting SaferCar.gov, a one-stop shop for vehicle safety established by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).(Front Row Motorsports), Ragan will start his 250th NSCS race this weekend at Talladega.(10-17-2013) • Charter on the #43 at Dega: Driver of the #43 Charter Ford, Aric Almirola says the keys to racing the Gen-6 car at the Talladega Superspeedway are track position and aggression. The No. 43 team hopes to have both to position them for the win in Charters primary race with the #43 team. Almirola has 13 NASCAR starts at the 2.66-mile track. In seven Sprint Cup starts, he tallied his best finish of 10th this spring. He has two Nationwide and four truck series starts at the high-banked track and posted his best finish of second in the truck races in 2009 and 2010.(Richard Petty Motorsports)(10-17-2013) • Talladega Goodyear Tire Notes: Teams in both NASCAR series in action at Talladega this weekend will run the same tire codes, though the Sprint Cup tires will be branded Goodyear Eagle, while the Camping World Truck tires will be branded Goodyear Wrangler . . . this is the first time these tire codes will be run at Talladega, though Sprint Cup teams did run this same combination of left- and right-side tires at Daytona in July . . . compared to what was run at Talladega in their last visits, this tire set-up features a compound change on both sides of the car and a construction change to the left-side to bring it into line with what is run at other tracks . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Talladega . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.(Goodyear), see full notes, trie codes, tire pressures on the Talladega Race Info page - Goodyear section. • Chase For The NASCAR Sprint Cup: Talladega - Thursday: • Talladega Superspeedway has been one of the 10 tracks of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series since the playoffs inception in 2004. • The best finish in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings by the Chase race winner at Talladega is second in the points by Jeff Gordon in 2007. The winner of the Talladega Superspeedway Chase race has never gone on to win the championship. • Clint Bowyer leads the series with the most Chase race wins at Talladega with two (2010 and 2011). • The worst finish by the eventual series champion at Talladega Superspeedway is 26th, by Jimmie Johnson in 2006. Johnson was eighth in the standings following the 2006 Talladega Chase race. • Chase Contenders have won five of the nine Chase races at Talladega Superspeedway. The four drivers that were not Chase Contenders that won the Chase race at Talladega were NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett (2005), Brian Vickers (2006), Jamie McMurray (2009) and Clint Bowyer (2011).(NASCAR)(10-17-2013) • Ragan, Gilliland returning to Front Row: Front Row Motorsports will build off another season of significant growth and new team records in 2013 - one that included the teams first win - with the return of drivers #34-David Ragan and #38-David Gilliland in 2014. This has been a milestone year for us, and were extremely happy that two of the guys who helped get us here will be back next year, said team owner Bob Jenkins. Were improving our race program, attracting more sponsors and setting and achieving higher and higher goals each year. Having David and David, our one-two punch, back in those cars next year is central to continuing our growth and improvement. The 2014 season will be Front Row Motorsports fifth year teaming with Gilliland and its third with Ragan. The 27-year-old Ragan will return to the cockpit of the #34 entry and the 37-year-old Gilliland will once again pilot the #38. In addition to achieving new heights on track, Front Row Motorsports is also enjoying a successful season of new sponsorship partners working with the team in 2013 relationships that are not only expected to return in 2014 but expand. The team is currently working with partner organizations to finalize those programs for next season and looks forward to announcing them in the coming weeks.(Front Row Motorsports)(10-16-2013) ___________________________________________________________ Courtesy of Racin Today racintoday Lucas Luhr Has Big Emotions On Petit Weekend racintoday/archives/43593 ___________________________________________________________ N A S C A R * N A T I O N W I D E * S E R I E S ___________________________________________________________ Courtesy of Jayski jayski Kligerman unsure of 2014 plans: As [#77-Parker Kligerman] finishes out his first NNS season what comes next isn t set in stone.
