a funny look, to be sure, but this speaks to an issue i have had for years. i think it is assanine and detrimental to allow girls of this time to think that there were women warriors, shield maidens and fighters in history. there have been, dont get me wrong. joan of arc, when they found she was a woman, was burned at the stake. one or two stories from our own civil war shows there were a couple that we knew about, after they stopped dressing like men and showed themselves to be women. one of them was prosecuted. i just feel that if girls feel like we have always been treated equally, there will be no urgency to maintain what rights we have gotten in the past 100 years, and soon, we will all be wearing burkas, just like our middle eastern counterparts who, by the way, were just as westernized as us 40 to 50 years ago. if we just roll over and say do what pleases you my lord, then we dont deserve the rights we have fought so hard for and won. thats why i feel women should ALWAYS be portrayed in historical movies and shows as what they really were-chattel!!!
