a new job advert with an interfaith aspect: Welwyn Garden City United Reformed Church seeks to appoint a Youth, Children and Families worker with interfaith responsibilities Salary negotiable up to pay point 14 JNC scale Full-time. This will include weekend and evening work. Funding has been secured initially for 5 years Are you committed and passionate about enabling children, young people and families to grow in faith? Are you enthusiastic, creative and imaginative in finding ways to engage? This job could be for you. We are seeking a person with all of those qualities who has experience of working with children, young people and their families, ideally in a faith and/or school environment. Based at Welwyn Garden City URC, you will be working as part of a team within the church and the Welwyn Hatfield Inter Faith Group Schools Project. The main purpose of this pioneering two strand role is: • Welwyn Garden City United Reformed Church to encourage, equip and develop the work with children youth and families within the church and in outreach to the community. This will include building relationships with the church family and working with other church workers and organisations. • Welwyn and Hatfield Inter Faith Group to work with a well established inter faith group initially helping them to develop their work in schools, identifying and coordinating resources for the schools to use, and promoting understanding between cultures and faiths. To be considered candidates should: • possess a relevant qualification or equivalent experience in youth work; and/or children and families work; and /or community work; • have a proven track record of engaging with children and young people; • possess experience of organising events and effective networking; • have an understanding of faith development in children and young people; • have a good understanding of different cultures and world faiths. • have excellent interpersonal and written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences; • possess an awareness of varied media trends, techniques and opportunities; • be able to work evenings and weekends; possess a full clean driving licence and own transport and • as a committed Christian possess a willingness to work ecumenically and across faith communities.
