a phrase that one often encounters on campus is extra-class.this seems to be a much-hyped term.often it transcends the realm of extra to enter the rarified realm of special-class. i have heard of legendary teachers skipping the routine classes being engaged across the TT board, telling boring students inquiring of their class that a special-class will be taken by him!ping-pong diplomacy this is!man, take your routine class, forget the extra, the special. as bernard shaw said, a routine is like the old german boots which had no left or right.a routine though meant to suit every one, suits no one. that is why perhaps every one skirts the routine and grasps the special.the routine is routine, the extra is special, glamorous. glamorous for the teacher, convenient for the taught.convenient because you can slot it in a convenient time.
