a reply to a friend who asked me do igbos see Lagos as the new abroad? lagos isnt the new abroad. but the government of Nigeria for years and even up till now has systematically deprived the igbos a lot of infrastructures to enable them excel. for years igbos despite being the most traveled, the FG never thought it wise to establish an international airport in the southeast. thank God for Jonathan that has changed. up till now the igbos being 75% of importers in Nigeria dont have a sea port. government after government has been paying lip service to dredging of river Niger. these two fore mentioned facts are the only reason why igbos reside in lagos apart from the fact that it was once a federal capital territory......if i want to settle my family i will now consider enugu since enugu now has an international airport where i can land and go straight to my family. igbos are everywhere. so lagos isnt a new abroad its just our backyard.
