…a species of dabbling duck that is native to southern South America, ranging from southern Peru, Bolivia, south-eastern Brazil and Paraguay south to Tierra del Fuego. Like other shovelers red shovelers inhabit fresh and brackish water, and is typically seen in ponds, lakes, marshes, estuaries and lagoons. Red shovelers are usually seen in small groups and feeds for small invertebrates and aquatic plants by dabbling and head-dipping.
