a very good point made by a SP spokesperson on NDTV. There is a high correlation b/w liquor consumption and rape. In all the cases that come to my mind the men were drunk-Delhi, Mumbai and the recent one in UP. Which means that in most cases of rape the criminal is drunk and hence cannot act rationally. An irrational individual has little fear or remembrance of laws. Thus I am led to believe that stronger laws will not reduce incidence of rape. What we need is a societal change whereby women are not seen as property. I am really not sure how this would happen but this is what we need.
