aahh . a rainy day and now a rainy night just outside of town in Hemingway ,SC. I cannot honestly think of anywhere that I would rather be than where I am right now; in the sanctuary of my own house , surrounded by walls that I am familiar with and that , indeed , have become old friends to me . the rain beating on the roof takes me back to my childhood , when the rain on the roof would accompany us children , playing the games that mama and daddy would teach us , or the ones that our young minds would make up as we went along .no such thing back then as electronic games or even electricity , but we would always find a way to occupy ourselves. great times . not a lot in the way of material possessions , but we had the greatest of riches . we were surrounded by love , from and for each other and the security of knowing that we were cared for and would be protected by God and both our parents . I thank God every day for my daddy Rufus (d 1984 ) , my mama Harriette , my brother Roger , sister Cindy Eaddy , brother Tim (d 2008) and sister Anita Allen . my grandfathers and grand mothers , my aunts , uncles and cousins on both sides were also a huge part of that younger life . all these are the people that taught me the value of love for others, the value of hard work and the value of family and friends . they also instilled in me a belief in God and the love for the Bible . hopefully , I have carried on that tradition and payed forward that love and care for others as they demonstrated and lived . now , the rain has me drowsy and I am secure and at peace on this night . facebook friends and all my friends , I am thankful every day for each of you . you continue to be a blessing to me in so many ways . for those that I come into contact with , you are the greatest . your words and your very presence are forever appreciated . my sons, Nick Cribb and Erica, Troy B Merriett and Jimmie and John and Charlotte Cribb , you are and will forever be the pride of my life . you have blessed me with your love and a bunch of beautiful and wonderful grandchildren and I love you each and everyone . now , it is good night and I love you all . sweet dreams and praying for a wondrous tomorrow for you all .
