admin@waseem Clashes left dozens injured in North Kashmir At least 18 people including five policemen were injured when protestors blocked Srinagar Muzaffarabad road in North Kashmir’s Delina area of Baramulla. People were protesting against the inability of district and police administration to trace the body of a youth Zubair Ahmed who had drowned a day before in River Jehlum. Reports said that hundreds of people came on roads near Delina and blocked the road on Monday morning. Protestors raised anti- police and anti- government slogans and some of them even pelted stones on vehicles that were plying on the roads. Protestors alleged that even after a day police and district administration did nothing to trace the dead body of the youth. “Not a single boat was pressed into service and the irony is that no official visited the spot,” one of the agitated protestors told CNS. District Development Commissioner Baramulla along with top police officials visited the spot however all their efforts to pacify the agitated protestors did not materialize. Police resorted to tear gas shelling and lathicharge to disperse the protestors. In response to police action, protestors pelted stones on policemen and in the ensuing clashes 18 people including five policemen were injured. One of the injured policeman has been identified as constable Javid Ahmed Reshi. Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Zubair Ahmed told CNS that police action was inevitable. “Protestors had blocked the road and were not allowing even patients to go ahead. Our men are on the job and they are searching for the dead body,” he said. (CNS)
