The cash here involves P13 million overprice in the furniture and fixtures of the new Makati City Hall in 2001. The prosecution and defense have rested their presentations and the case is now up to decision. So this P70 million overpricing of hospital equipment of Ospital ng Makati is another graft case against Elenita Binay. There is an interesting defense being used by the lawyers of the Binays, which was also mentioned by Ms. Heidi Mendoza yesterday at the Senate, to wit: The Sandiganbayan justices, as an evidence requirement, asks for a formal price quote FROM THE SAME SUPPLIER, AT THE SAME TIME THE OVERPRICED ITEM WAS PURCHASED AND THE SAME SPECIFICATIONS. (This is the reason why Ms. Heidi said that the COA was forced to ACTUALLY BUY the same item from the same supplier.
