am such a good person and I am suffering. Is a statement that is made by many. This statement is made in comparison to the one who has ample wealth and status. This latter person is considered to be not suffering. We need to understand what is ‘good’. A person who works and feeds his family is merely doing his duty. He is not being good. When we return a favour done we are not doing anything special. It is a mere payback. When we send our children to school or take care of their needs its our action for the fulfilment of our carnal desires. If we are saving for a rainy day, its our fear that makes us to it. If we spak the truth, it could be the fear that we will be caught. This is not considered good. Its a survival mechanism. When we help others to complete their goals, we are good. When we help and serve others in society for sake of helping them and without expectations, we are good. Man is a divine being on a human holiday. He should not forget his original Nature. When we perform acts which confirm to our original nature, we are good. Goodness is our unconditional action which sets us apart from Man. It takes us closer to Godliness. Suffering happens to all...good and bad equally. Its the nature of the earth reality in which we live. Suffering knocks at everyones door. We all know the story of Lord Buddha who asked a woman who came to him, to save her son from the clutches of death. He said, Get me a handful of rice from the house of someone where no one has ever died. The woman came back empty handed. Suffering knows no caste, creed or status. It is only doing its job. Lets understand that altruism and benevolence is what we must develop and hate and vengeance which is poison to our soul we must remove. In our last breath, there is no lie....we will have to face the eternal truth.
