an example of indifference in the part of public representatives in new ross. at the feb meeting of new ross town council, i put forward a motion calling on the officials to start to make plans to build a new road from the top of the irishtown over to the barrowland. the reason was obvious. traffic congestion in the middle if the irishtown is now at a critically dangerous level. when i put that motion forward, it received the unanimous support from the other 8 members of the council. last night, the town clerk told the council members that the only way that this road will be built will be through private developers.....in other words, the council will not use our road taxes to build this important link road. thats fine, the officials have their agendas.....but the deafening silence from the rest of the members in the face if this abuse of democratic process on the issue told a tale yet again ....that tale is the same one that has always bedevilled new ross....it is a tale of gutlessness and whimpering fear that personifies most politicians in our town.
