and here is yesterdays update from Marissa: Shortly after I wrote my last post on Facebook, I was getting ready to leave the hospital. I was tired, sad, anxious. I just wanted to get home to Owie. I waited until my mother in law got off the phone and she was telling me about her phone conversation. I looked in his room through the window and noticed the nurses were adjusting him in bed so I was going to wait until they were done so I could give Sam a kiss. I noticed that Sam started to open his eyes a little. Then the nurse was at the foot of the bed and I saw Sam wiggle and move each foot and then squeeze the nurses hand. The next the I know, Sam is sitting up in bed and is waving at me through the window!!!! I told Sams mom to look and he waved at her! The nurse waved me in and Sam gave me the biggest hug and kiss and then put his arms up in fists and mouthed to me, Im a fighter! Im a fighter! I called his mom in and he hugged her and did the same thing. They called the dr in and he was thrilled. I ran to the transplant office and told the coordinator and she cried tears of joy with me. When I told the transplant dr, he said he was so optimistic that he would walk out of this hospital. Shortly before my post earlier, I was told by Sams pulmonologist that they would be reevaluating Sams listing in 24-48 hrs and the fact that he wasnt awake yet was not looking too good. I am so thankful for the prayers, the nurses and ICU drs who have taken such great care of Sam, and the transplant team who continues to have hope! Whether or not this was a miracle or just perfect timing, Im not questioning it! That was the greatest hug I have ever received in my entire life!!!!!!!
