and... more terrains. Worked out a layered texture that makes it easy to swap out terrains and choose which texture goes with each mask. Now need to tweak it so that I can set bump/spec for each mask as well... right now bump/spec is simply derived from the color by remapping to greyscale with a ramp... But need more control. Reason for the layered texture, as opposed to texturing in Photoshop, is resolution... With tiled textures I can get all the way down to the ground, while with a single texture, well, it would need to be much bigger than the 16k Mental Ray limit. Downloaded a little dude to add to the scene per Alex Nices request. :) Clearly I should add my own character... but these are all just tests so hell do for now.
