Re: KC-46A Beddown EIS Support for Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base KC-46A Tankers It is in the best interest of the Nation to make the 121st Air Refueling Wing at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base (ANGB) home of the new KC-46A tanker. Rickenbacker ANBG and surrounding communities stand ready to move to the next phase of a proud history of success with the Air refueling mission by accepting the next chapter airframe, the KC-46A. Rickenbacker ANGB is strategically positioned to allow worldwide response to all threats, both foreign and domestic, in all directions, not just the east coast. Rickenbacker stands ready to perform not only air refueling but cargo and aero medical evacuation mission in support of the nation, just like during OPERATIONS DESERT STORM, ALLIED FORCE, JOINT FORGE, NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH,NOBLE EAGLE, IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, UNIFIED PROTECTOR, ODYSSEY DAWN, and numerous unnamed events. Rickenbacker is a well maintained joint facility in excellent condition containing the Air National Guard, Army National Guard, Naval reserve, Army reserve and Marine reserve. The existing infrastructure will support the KC-46A with no additional Active Association requirements. No waivers are required. The KC-46A will be accommodated on the ramp and in the existing hangars with minimum modifications. In short, existing facilities meet requirements for active duty association. The city of Columbus ranking #11 in the Top 50 Military Friendly Cities® represents the overwhelming support Rickenbacker receives from the surrounding communities. The award winning aircrew and highly experienced maintenance personnel at Rickenbacker coupled with the comparatively low cost of living all contribute to the low cost of operation at Rickenbacker. Rickenbacker stands ready to expand and to welcome the KC-46A. The 2013 budget cuts resulted in the loss of six KC-135 aircraft, a couple of hundred military positions, and the deactivation of the 145th Air Refueling Squadron. Rickenbacker stands ready to accept the additional manpower by welcoming a new Active Duty Squadron. An additional Active duty squadron would bring almost 300 families into our local communities and schools. Rickenbacker is ready. The 121st ARW is ready. The local community is ready. The environment is right to bring the KC-46A to Rickenbacker.
